Arena Overhire Technician - Hired As-needed

Overhire staff are responsible for performing all tasks related to production support for APGFCU Arena events. Duties include, but are not limited to, loading-in and -out lighting, audio, rigging, staging and power systems necessary to support each event; running lighting consoles, analog and digital audio consoles, follow spots and other necessary equipment for each event.

Theater Technician - Hired As-needed

Theater Technicians are needed to perform a variety of “backstage” tasks in support of HCC’s Cultural Events.

Responsibilities include hands-on construction; painting; hanging, focusing, and running lights; setting up and running audio; building and painting props; and hanging fly system items for theatrical, musical, and dance performances. Technicians provide technical support for lectures, ceremonies, and conferences; and perform duties as assigned by the Technical Director for preparation of shows, performances, and strikes.

Box Office Cashier - Hired As-needed

The Box Office Cashier is responsible for selling tickets from HCC’s box office for various theater shows and college events beginning one hour prior to show time. Shows are held on the campus of HCC in the Chesapeake Theater, the APG Federal Credit Union Arena, and Joppa Hall, and at the Amoss Center (Harford Technical High School) adjacent to the College campus.

The cashier will reconcile event sales including cash, checks, and credit card receipts; prepare sales figures; and secure receipts in a safe upon closing the box office.

Training on HCC’s ticketing software and box office procedures will be provided.

Harford Owl Mascot - Hired As-needed

Show your spirit and have some fun! Performers are needed to appear as Harford Community College’s Fighting Owls mascot “Screech” at home athletic matches and other College-sponsored events. These include, but are not limited to, home basketball games, baseball games, softball games, and Student Activities events. Performers will wear the mascot costume, dance and interact with the public, perform with various props, entertain sports fans of all ages, encourage HCC spirit within a diverse student body, and keep spectators engaged.

Athletic Event Support Staff - Hired As-needed

Support staff is needed for athletic game-day operations in the College’s APG-FCU Arena at Harford Community College and at the Harford Sports Complex. Duties include, but are not limited to, operating the score clock, staffing score table, submitted game statistics, taking/scanning tickets, game set-up and tear-down, preparing playing fields, and performing other duties as assigned.

Public Safety Officer - Individual Certification

The Public Safety Officer performs security functions for the College. Duties include, but are not limited to: patrolling on foot, crime prevention, crime investigation and reporting, responding to and mitigating emergency situations and alarms; providing traffic control, first aid and logistical support; opening and closing College facilities, reporting conduct violations, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Student Crew - Events Department

Earn money in your spare time while attending HCC. The College is offering as-needed employment opportunities to currently enrolled credit students in support of events in the APGFCU Arena. A variety of scheduling is available, including day, evening and weekend hours. As-needed employees are limited to working up to 500 hours per year.

Applicants may choose one or both of the following assignments:

Arena Set-up/Tear-down – Crew members assist in preparing for events and event turnover at the College’s APGFCU Arena. Tasks include, but are not limited to, setting up and removing folding chairs and tables; extending and retracting bleachers; setting up and breaking down signage, pipe & drape, and stanchions; moving small equipment and supplies; preparing green room spaces; and performing other duties as assigned.

This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., walk up and down bleachers, and stand for long periods.

Arena Front-of-House – Assist arena personnel with crowd management to assure compliance with fire regulations and guest safety. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing a point of contact for volunteer ushers to arena management; monitoring the crowd before, throughout, and after performances, including entrance and exit; monitoring walkways and doors; and acting as a liaison between facility users/renters and arena management.

Required Education
Applicants must be currently enrolled as credit students in good standing at HCC and be at least 18 years of age.
